A Fundamental Change in Coil Wind Technology

DELTA WIND technology breaks 30 years of “circular” tradition by fundamentally changing the shape of the wind itself. This triangular wind shape rotates a series of microscopic “DELTA rings” along the coil, allowing it to seamlessly change direction as needed without depending on the overall coil shape.

By changing shape from a circle to a triangle, Micrus has added a third major contributor to coil performance beyond softness and overall shape: the underlying wind itself.

DELTA rings facilitate improved directional change, providing less stress on the aneurysm wall than traditional wind helical coils. This helps achieve tighter packing and greater packing density. Traditional wind coil provides no deflection points on its initial coil wind.

Improved Stability

Stability

The micro-deflection points created by DELTA WIND technology act as hundreds of tiny articulating junctions, helping to absorb coil resistance before it reaches the microcatheter. The result is reduced microcatheter movement and less kickback, providing more stability during filling.

Improved Filling

DELTA rings allow the coil to break at will in any direction regardless of overall shape. This allows DELTA Coils to find and fill open spaces that might be missed by traditional wind coils and requires less repositioning or “yo-yoing” during procedures. This may facilitate improved packing density with less compaction.
